Role Graphic Designer
The
Institute for American Indian Studies, is a non-profit in Washington, CT, that works to preserve and educate about the diverse traditions, vitality and knowledge of Native American Cultures. During my time working with them I designed a logo for their escape room, developed roadside and educational signage, and consulted on various other design projects.
I developed a road side sign for the entrance to the road leading up to the institute; keeping in mind zoning restrictions and driver visibility. This sign is bold and easy to read, while driving by, bringing more visitors into the museum as well as making the entrance easier to spot if they had already planned a trip. Also designed are a couple of smaller, removable signs for museum hours and the escape room to provide more information and flexibility.
I designed and prepared production ready files for large and small educational signs to teach visitors about the various plants they can find in the onsite native medicinal garden and the importance of native plants and pollinators.

Main garden sign with sections discussing what they can find in the garden, what a native plant is and why native gardens are important.
Secondary sign with “Honorable Harvest” poem by Robin Wall Kimmerer.
Pollinator sign that discusses the importance of pollinators, which you can see in the garden, and how to help protect pollinators at home.
A selection of the small signs that sit throughout the garden pointing out where to look for each of the plants featured in the garden.
The new logo is an organic and visually interesting identity that fits alongside the overall museum branding.
