Philo Ridge Farm is a diversified, organic farm located in Charlotte, Vermont. They are a working farm that grows vegetables, fruit, herbs, and flowers, as well as, maintain livestock all as part of a sustainable, eco-conscious system.

As a continuation of their identity revamp and a response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the farm requested custom farm grocery boxes to utilize for packing up customer orders.

The Ask

The farm has a full market that caters to the public and nearby schools. You are able to walk in and choose from farm fresh produce, locally-made gifts, and freshly prepared food from the deli. With the pandemic they added a new feature to their website to accommodate pick up orders. For this purpose, they were looking for custom boxes that not only served a functional purpose, but also aligned with their brand mission. These boxes share messages surrounding the mission of Philo Ridge Farm. They are not only fun and engaging, but also informative. The shape and closure style of the box follows the look of farm bushel boxes and makes it easy to close without needing tape.

The Solution

A branded, craft paper, cardboard box with a shape and closure style reminiscent of farm bushel boxes. The closure style not only aligns with what you would typically see on a farm, but also allows them to close the box without the use of tape. This makes packing boxes quick and more eco-conscious. Sturdy handles were added to make it easier to move the box around once it was loaded up.

The outside of the box is filled with their brand statements and logo elements. The placement of the different elements entices the customer to engage with the whole box learning about the farms various missions. Also included is a reminder to return, recycle, or reuse the box continuing their goal to do more for the environment.

These boxes served them really well during the pandemic to keep getting their sustainable food out to customers. Today they utilize these boxes for their "Farm Box", a biweekly produce, meat, and treats selection (similar to a CSA).
