Identity design system for a non-profit waterfowl conservancy in Litchfield, CT. We were approached by the team at
Livingston Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy with a challenge; to make their identity modern and colorful to stand out in a crowd of many other wildlife and nature conservancies. They also wanted to update their name to “Ripley” stepping away from their long running name “Livingston Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy”. This change not only makes the name easier to remember, but also opens up their education programs to teach about wetlands and the impact we all have on the environment.
The new identity makes use of a modular system including simple black or white type alongside the real star of the show, the birds. Multiple bird illustrations were commissioned in color and in black and white to allow flexibility of use while also showing off their endangered species they are working hard to help. Currently the system includes a Baer’s Pochard, a Grey-Crowned Crane, a Scaly-Sided Merganser, and a Red Breasted Goose. We kept "Waterfowl Conservancy" as a tagline on their logo to help with the transition to the new name and give the logo some context.
